Course work is scheduled so that students can finish work in three thirty-minute to one-hour sessions per week. Some lessons take one session to complete, and some are longer and take two sessions (typically done on two separate days) to complete.

Students will need to have completed the “getting started” steps (optional placement test, binder set-up, and introductory video) and begin working in the course by September 3rd. They may begin on the 3rd or may begin earlier if they would like to get ahead. They may take the placement test as soon as they join the Google Classroom. Other course materials will be posted on August 12th.

Due dates for lesson exercises are given to help keep students on track but are somewhat flexible, in that no points are taken off for late work. However, for the purpose of accountability, due dates for quizzes and tests are not flexible, and points are deducted for late submission (unless a parent emails asking for an extension due to extenuating circumstances, such as illness, vacation, etc.).

Because I understand that some students may already have a separate writing curriculum, writing modules are optional. During the weeks in which writing modules are scheduled, students whose parents are opting them out of the writing lessons may take a break from the course.
