I believe that, for most students, the ideal time to begin this course is 7th, 8th or 9th grade although students may begin as early as 6th grade or as late as 12th grade. The third level of the course covers advanced grammar and usage concepts, and I find that many students are not developmentally ready for that material until 9th grade. I believe that the ideal schedule for this course would be to complete the first level in 7th or 8th grade, the second level in 8th or 9th or 10th grade, and the third level in 9th or 10th grade. Students who complete the Level One Crash Course, rather than the full Level One, should be able to complete the Level One Crash Course and Level Two in the same school year. Any level of this course could count as a high school English credit although I would always recommend having the student read some literature in addition to working through this course. Ideally, your student will have worked through both levels of this course and the ACT prep add-on modules before taking the ACT as usage and editing concepts covered in this course will be seen on the ACT.
